Definition of a One-Night Stand

Building off my "How Many Partners Have you Had?" post week before last and my "Can Sex Ruin a Friendship?" post last week, I wanted to explore the subject of one-night stands. Writing about the above topics caused me to reflect on my own list of sexual partners. In doing so, I realized that there have been a few times where the episode only went down once. So I began to wonder; does that make it a one-night stand?

Now let me clarify that query a bit more before people start getting the wrong idea, but if you've been reading this blog for a while, it's probably too late for that. LOL.

For the record, I've never just met a random woman on the street or in a club and hit it the same night only to never see or hear from her again. Besides the fact that my game ain't that strong to hit a homerun my first at bat, that's not even my style. Now that doesn't mean that some situations didn't turn sexual quicker that others, because there have been times in the past where I met a female and we got down after knowing each other for a short while. Still, there was always some line of communication between us afterwards. We talked, texted, something. It's just that for whatever the reason we never had sex again or just lost touch over time (click here for example). But do either of those scenarios constitute as a one-night stand?

I mean, it's not like I ever got with a woman for the sole purpose of hitting it and had no interest in her as a person whatsoever. Wait, let me take that back, there was this one time, but I was drunk and that’s a story for another blog. But even in that scenario, that person and I still communicate to this day. So again I ask, does that constitute as a one-night stand?

No matter if an episode was wack or dope, I’m not the kinda person to change up after the act on some, "I'll call you" and just don’t. At least I don’t think so. But if two people have sex one time and realized that they had less in common than they thought and chose to go their separate ways does that make it a one-night stand? What if an actual friendship developed after a one-time sex romp (click here for example)? Is that still considered a one-night stand?

I know I threw a few different scenarios out there, but, personally, I don't feel any of the above situations count as one-night stands. So I'm curious, how do you guys/gals define a one-night stand? Or does having sex once and becoming friends not count as a one-night stand? Is anyone willing to admit to having had one? If so, why was it only one time and did you speak to the person ever again?
