Loose Threads, Vol. 3 (Best Blogs of Oct. ’08)
For those new to the site and this Loose Threads series, let me give a quick refresher. On the last weekend of every month (in this case the first weekend) I’ve decided to compile some of my best posts from months past. Basically, it’s my way of letting new readers catch up on some good posts they may have missed and a chance to reminisce with some of the regular Sock Heads.
Being that I’m doing this series in chronological order, September ’08 should be the next month to get highlighted, but that was when I did my 90 blogs in 30 days marathon while on Ramadan, which was capped off by my “Greatest Hits” and “Greatest Misses.” Since it would be redundant to rehash the same material I’m just skipping ahead to October ’08 for Vol. 3 of the Loose Threads series. If something moves you to want to voice your opinion, feel free to comment on any of the old posts. I read them all and appreciate any input on past posts that may have fell under the radar. Of course you can always search my Sock Drawer (aka archives) at any time or go through the various sections below to see what discussions you may have missed.
NOTE: If you come across any broken links that got screwed up when I moved my blog over to a dot com, please let a brother know. My contact email is above in the toolbar, which you can access HERE. Feel free to holla at me with suggestions, feedback on the site or any other questions.
As always, you can get daily email alerts by subscribing to the blog HERE, follow my random thoughts on Twitter HERE, or join my various networks on MySpace, FaceBook and BlackPlanet. Oh, I also have a new FaceBook fan page and a blog network page for faithful readers. Feel free to hit me up on any or all of those pages just be sure to introduce yourself as a reader/sock head by sending a quick message to avoid going through my tedious screening process. ? Anyway, without further ado, enjoy Loose Threads, Vol. 3.
Sincerely yours,
NWSO
“Conversations With Jazmine Sullivan (I Heard This Song Before)”
I’d like to think that I was one of the first people to co-sign Jazmine Sullivan—her album is the truth. I fell in love with her album right away and even had my own special conversation with Jazi—in my mind. CLICK HERE to see if you can relate.
“The Man Without Fear (We Fly High)”
Did you know that I went skydiving—twice? Well on the anniversary of my first jump I recounted the experience and posted the video footage. CLICK HERE to see me skydive with socks on.
“I Gotta Thing For Natural Hair”
One of my fetishes is women with natural hair. So here I broke down what it is about afros, braids, locks and even baldies that drives me wild. CLICK HERE for full post.
“Only When I’m Drunk (Introducing Taco Meat)”
If you’ve ever seen me reference Taco Meat and had no idea what I was talking about, then you must have missed this post. Back when I used to get really, really twisted, my friends came up with a name for my drunken an alter ego. CLICK HERE to see just how bad I was.
“How Many Partners Have You Had?”
The title basically says it all. Here is where I tackle the age old date question that is really no ones business but your own. CLICK HERE to see how people responded.
“Her Heart Was Like An Apple”
I used to do a lot more poetry on here but people never really commented. I think this was one of my best ones where I compared a woman’s heart to an apple. CLICK HERE to tell me if it’s any good.
“Six Degrees of Desperation (What Man Wants That?)”
I have a friend that is so stuck on the idea of getting married that she started putting her dates on 2-3 month cycles. If they weren’t ready to jump the broom by then, she kicked them to the curb. I tried to tell her that you can’t rush true love and desperation won’t snag a man. CLICK HERE to see how things worked out.
“Can Sex Ruin a Friendship?”
We’ve all been there or at least know someone who has: Guy and girl are good friends and then one night hanging out turns into a roll in the hay. Sometimes it’s a good thing, but a lot of times it ruins the friendship. CLICK HERE to share your thoughts.
“Dear, Happiness”
Everybody needs a dose of positive reinforcement every now and again. I decided to provide a little for my readers. CLICK HERE to see if this doesn’t inspire you to find happiness within yourself.
“Texting vs. Talking (How Come You Never Call?)”
In an age where technology is everywhere, people tend to choose digital communication over real person-to-person communication. In certain settings it works, but in the beginning stages of a relationship it can be confusing. CLICK HERE to see how people felt about this new trend.
“She Liked Being Choked”
This one brought a few closet freaks out. LOL. Basically there was this girl I messed with that liked being chocked but I was scared to try it. CLICK HERE to see if I wound up giving her what she wanted.“Not So
Beauty & the Beach, Pt. 1-3”
During my trip to Brazil I wound up getting followed around by this not-so cute girl. You won’t believe where this hilarious story winds up. It was so crazy I had to break it into three parts. CLICK HERE to see what I had to do to get rid of my international stalker.
“Should Women Carry Condoms?”
During a dinner party, two of my friends got into a heated debate over what it means when women have condoms on them. She said it was for her own protection, he said it was because she’s loose. CLICK HERE to offer up your own opinions.
