What if Da ThRONe Ruled the World? (Lord Help Us All)
Hello, Socks Heads,
Being that it’s Black History Month (and let’s not forget every month is Black History Month) I’m feeling real political. Now, I’ve always considered myself in the highest of percentiles when it comes to intellect and since NWSO has giving me a platform to blog more regularly I will use it to flex my mental muscles. (Trust, ladies, it’s just as strong as the physical ones).
The following post is predicated on Tron K. Miles (aka Da ThRONe) having complete authority in decision-making for this country.
Cue Nas’ "If I Ruled the World."
First things first, "I believe the children are the future/Teach them well and let them lead the way..." See, any country that doesn’t value the mental wellbeing of their youth is a doomed society. If I ruled the world I would make sure that federal revenues were evenly distributed so every school countrywide received equal and adequate funding.
This is non-negotiable.
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link and we as a country need to understand that while individual goals are great it’s nothing if the greater goals suffer for it. There is no way the people whose job it is to shape the minds of our children should be so underpaid. This inexcusable!
Since I’m already singing, I'll just stick to the theme.
"Raise your kids, raise your kids, raise yo goddamn kids." No matter how fine the learning institution is, it’s all pointless if the kids have no will to learn. This stems for a lack of parenting plain and simple. It’s a shame our government can force us to do all kinds of meaningless things, but won’t enforce rules for people to take responsibility for the lives we create.
Not if I’m running this bitch!
If I ruled the world, you could make as many babies as you like but you would be responsible for each and ever one of those little bastards—legally and financially. You will either take care of your kids or else you will suffer.
Child support would be mandatory for anybody who doesn’t have joint custody of his or her kids. And anybody who was receiving child support would be randomly selected for audits to make sure the money was benefiting said child. Not only that, I would issue fines and/or penalties including jail time if your child was breaking laws, missing school, and not properly prepared for school (meaning never doing homework, was unsanitary, or wasn’t properly nourished).
For some this may seem overly invasive or not fair, but the reality is the actions of others have a profound affect on everybody. Ask any mother who has lost a life to senseless violence. You don’t counteract senseless violence with more police and bigger jails, you counteract senselessness with SENSE. And if I had to I would have no problem forcing people to use some.
"Money, money, money, monnneeyy, mooooonnney/Some people got to have, oh, oh/Some people really need it." I'm not sure if people know who Ralph Nader is but I got this idea from him. He spoke of something so simple it sounded impossible to my capitalistic ears. He spoke of something called "living wages" and it’s been in my brain ever since.
Basically, for those who don’t know what that is it’s like minimum wage. Instead of allowing companies to pay you the bare minimal, it requires all companies (with an exemption for small business owners) to pay all their employees a salary that will allow them to work their 40+ hours a week and receive no less then what’s needed to keep their heads above water in their local area. Yeah, I know it goes against all this capitalistic bullshit they’ve been feeding most of us since birth.
Capitalism was introduced to this country for the sole purpose of allowing the rich to become even more insanely rich and to remain that way. Capitalism is the source of most of our economic issues now. The big C goes against everything our founding fathers (with their slave owning asses) had in mind for this great country. Anybody who thinks the average 67-year-old billionaire is really in touch with the common man needs to have his/her head examined. Capitalism as it’s practiced now is like letting the inmates run the asylum.
"Don’t worry/Be happy." There are some useless laws on the book that need to be reexamined, reworked or just removed. My idea of a crime is when a person or group hurts others or infringes on the rights of others. So for me there are so many things that aren’t legal now that would be if I ran this bitch.
To me, way too many people are in prison or dead because of drugs. The whole thing can easily be defused. Outlawing drugs makes the same amount of sense as outlawing alcohol or tobacco products. If people want it they will have it and the only thing that denying people what they want causes is more chaos. It has been proven that the best way to deal with things like this is to allow and regulate it.
Regulation not only provides that said product will be as safe as possible but revenue can be made from it and used to fund many other things. I don’t know one person who is avoiding the usage of illegal narcotics simply because it’s illegal. I know buying cocaine at your local Walgreens sounds crazy but so was buying beer at one point and both are addictive. Same with prostitution. Anything consenting adults wanna do is their right to do whether you/I like it or not.
"War, HUH!/What is it good for/Absolutely nothing." I would completely change this nation’s approach to foreign affairs. People should be dragged outside the White House lawn and shot for war crimes (I’m not saying any names).
I can say the last three or four major conflicts we’ve been in are bullshit wars for the gain of a few at the cost of many. I don’t feel any safer now then I did before/during/after 9/11 and I don’t know why I would. Military action should be a last resort not our first. But I guess when it’s not your family that’s doing the dying it’s easy to make that call. Unless we plan on killing them all (just joking) we can never end a conflict with war, that only adds more fuel to the fire. I’m all for funding the CIA and any other counterterrorist ops we have, but actually declaring war against people with no official country to begin with is just plain ol’ stupid.
"What, what, in the butt." Do I really need to explain this one? LOL. I would grant gay people the same right to form a union, serve in the military or do whatever their little accessorizing hearts desired.
“It’s the end of the world as we know." This country is like 50 years past due looking for alternative sources of energy. But this is what happens when you let private businesses run things. Their decisions aren’t based on what’s best for you, me, or this country—hell, the world. For them, it’s profit margins and shareholders.
Once again it’s a government’s job to do what’s best for the people it governs and our addiction on fossil fuel is out of control. I wouldn’t allow big business to stunt the growth of progress. I would encourage, no, I would force the auto industries to use hybrid vehicles. The technology is there, every vehicle sold in the last three or four years should be a hybrid vehicle.
Some of the products they allow companies to put in our foods is crazy. And people wonder why 12-year-old girls look 25. Why we’re obese at an alarming rate. Why cancer is up, along with depression and a whole list of other things.
Everybody has a boss and until enough people realize that we, the people, are this nation's boss we will continue to deal with bullshit. We don’t have to take it, but people are too busy buying rims and Gucci shoes; gas guzzlin’; shaking their asses in the club; hating on somebody else because they’re a different color; buying shit we don’t; or trying to get to a place in life where we can separate ourselves just to feel like we’re better than others. But we’re all in this together and we all are getting less than we deserve.
But all of that would change of you elected me, Da ThRONe, ruler of the world.
Let freedom ring.
What do you think of Da ThRONe’s plans for world domination? Do you agree that teachers are underpaid? Do you think America’s welfare system needs to be revamped? Or, if used properly, could it actually help people below the poverty level? What are your thoughts on living wages? Would that even the playing field for Americans or defeat the purpose of Capitalism? Does Capitalism breed greed and crime? Should certain drugs like marijuana be legalized? Why? Do you think that prisons can ever reform someone? Do you feel we live in a society that is o quick to engage in war? Would you want to live in a world where Da ThRONe was ruler?
Speak your piece…
