Do You Like Change? (Best Of, Vol. 16)

Change Ahead

Hey, Sock Heads, I know it’s a holiday weekend for those of us in the States but it’s the end of the month, which means it’s recap time. Before I get to that, though, let me touch on a few of the big announcements I mentioned in passing yesterday.

First, the long-awaited NWSO T-shirts (and other paraphernalia) are almost complete. I just have to make some tweaks and set up shop and we’ll be good to go—hopefully before the two-year anniversary on July 4th. Secondly, ThatsABadLook.com is almost ready to pop off as well. Until then, you can follow the TABL madness via Twitter @ThatsABadLook. Third, I’ve finally stopped all the BSin’ and starting on the first book so forgive me if I take a day or two off to handle that or lean on my guest bloggers to fill in from time to time.

Speaking of which, the door is always open for reader relationship questions and submissions for guest blogs. If you’ve got questions, ideas or suggestions feel free to hit me up via email CLICK HERE. Just be patient as it does take me a little while to get to everything but I will eventually.

I’m also still looking for regular contributors and interns to help out. I have plans to expand the site real soon with more content and special features, but there’s no way I can do that solo. So if you’re interested in joining the NWSO team as a regular or part-time contributor definitely hit me up on the email [NakedWithSocksOn@gmail.com]. I want to thank the folks that already hit me up, I haven’t forgotten you just give me a minute to sort everything out and get back to you. (Okay, R.E.D.?).

I have one more thing to tell y’all but I’ll wait until next week before I reveal that one, in the event that things don’t go according to plan.

Now, if you’ve been paying attention the past few weeks, you would have noticed my daily plugs for Paul Carrick Brunson’s Modern Day Matchmaker Live tour next Thursday, June 3, in NYC. I’m really excited about appearing on the panel alongside my fellow bloggers and getting to talk to some of y’all face-to-face at the after party. If you haven’t copped your tickets yet CLICK HERE and don’t forget to enter “NWSO” as your discount code to get 20% off. I know times are tough financially for a lot of folks, so that’s why I’m glad there’s now a third, more cost-effective pricing option. Don’t wait until the last minute because ticket sales end the day before the show.

It’s all going down next Thursday, June 3 at Providence—located at 311 West 57th Street, NYC. Doors open at 8pm and the show, which will be taped, will run from 8:30 to 10:30. The after party, which will give folks the chance to mingle with the panel, will kickoff directly after and go until 2am. For more info, hit the official FaceBook invite.

Also, don’t forget you can subscribe to the blog’s email alerts HERE, follow my random thoughts on Twitter HERE, or hit me on MySpace and BlackPlanet. There’s also the NWSO FaceBook fan page and a blog network page for faithful readers to stay connected. Feel free to hit me up on any or all of those pages, just be sure to introduce yourself as a reader/sock head by sending a quick note with your friend request to avoid going through my tedious screening process. ? Anyway, without further ado, enjoy Loose Threads, Vol. 16 (November ’09).

Sincerely yours,

NWSO

AAAWwWW!!!! ;-( I just went up to New York for my father’s graduation. I wish I could, this really would be a nice event to go to. Then again, I enjoyed Denzel (blushing on the inside and out) as well. I hope you are doing something else or having another event in the fall. I will definitely try to save money for that.

BTW, Kaye Michele are you going to work on a book as well? I love what I saw on your blog.

Not sure if I can make out this Thursday but told some friends about it who live in NYC. Since it is being taped, I hope to see some footage on NWSO!

I think change sucks. I don't care for change, but the only thing consistent in life is change. It doesn't work out right in the beginning, but over time you gradually adjust and then you feel like this is okay and then more change down the road.

Well, this is life and changes are a part of life. Birth, death, marriage, divorce, hew house, new job, lose job, lose house, illness, debt these are all changes at that are a big part of life and while I don't like change, I'm not resistant to some changes while resistant to others. Some things have no business changing. JMO

Change is the only thing that keeps the human race alive, change i.e evolution. Change your outlook, change your draws, change your hoes, change is good, that's why New Years was invented, to start things fresh, and change up shit you didn't like from before you dig it?

Without accepting the fact that everything changes, we cannot find perfect composure. But unfortunately, although it is true, it is difficult for us to accept it. Because we cannot accept the truth of transience, we suffer.

The key to change... is to let go of fear. Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.

I am so excited that you started your first (of many...no pressure) books!!!

Come on folks. Change is what makes the world go 'round. Without change we'd still be doing the boogaloo, wearing conked hair and drinking rheingold beer. Thank you for change.
