Does Good Erotica Make You Wet? (Be My Inspiration)

Before I get into today’s post, I wanted to say thanx in advance for everyone that voted for NWSO and Wet Wednesdays in the 2010 Black Weblog Awards. Win or lose, I appreciate the support and it’s an honor to be in the finals alongside so many great sites. We’ll just have to wait until noon EST today to see who got crowned in their respective categories.

As for today’s Wet Wednesdays, it’ll be a bit different. A couple weeks back a new reader hit me up and asked, “How do you come up with these stories and what makes for good erotica?”

Honestly, when I write my scenes I just try to envision the characters as real people. How would Character X respond to the touch of her lover? What does she smell like? What does the room they are in look like? I think the key to painting a great picture is in the details and descriptions of the lovemaking. Everything is all leading up to same thing (penis in vagina) but the real story is how it happens—how it looks, feels, smells and sounds. I use all my senses but in written form.

While most Wet Wednesdays are rooted in real-life experiences and/or people, I use my active imagination to weave a greater fantasy. Sometimes I take bits and pieces of different women and experiences to create a perfect lover on page, but the best stories are the ones that are inspired by you.

I imagine you waiting for the clock to strike midnight each week and then anxiously clicking the mouse on your computer so you can take in my latest entry.

Sitting in your apartment, alone, with the lights down low. Perhaps you have a glass of your favorite wine by your side to relax your nerves as you escape with me. It’s been a long week and you need this break to get over the hump.

Thoughts of your luscious lips pop into my head and I fantasize about tasting and sucking them. You moisten them with your tongue seductively at just the thought, and it won’t be long before your other pair of lips gets moist.

My fingers would love to explore your nooks and crannies, spreading across your skin like warm butter. An image of your exposed neck fills my thoughts as I gladly suckle on the sweet spot above your collar bone.

I can smell your perfume mixed in with your natural scent. The combination drives me wild.

I unbutton your blouse or lift your top over your head—whichever path I choose at the moment doesn’t matter. My hands take off in different directions across your firm breasts, then grazing your side before going ’round to your back. My hands reconnect between your shoulder blades and fidget with the hooks of your bra.

One…

By one…

They come undone.

You let the straps fall to your side effortlessly, releasing the most perfect breasts I’ve ever laid eyes on. Whether cocoa dipped, honey glazed or cinnamon dusted, they are my flavor and I partake in the luscious dessert before me.

Greedily, I devour each one whole, being sure to share my energy equally between them both.

I grab your hands and pull you to your feet. I undo your belt/unzip your skirt/hike up your dress/whatever it takes to unearth your buried treasure until nothing by atmosphere and time separates your warm wet core from me.

I can see your face and that hazy look you get in your eyes whenever you get caught up in the rapture of a moment like this. I know the exact color of your toenails and the positioning of every hair on your head is as clear as day in my mind.

The image of you standing before me completely…

Naked.

Perfect.

Still.

Waiting…

For me to continue…

Yeah, that’s what I think about when I write a Wet Wednesdays. You are my inspiration. My muse. My reason.

Once I have you where I want, on the brink of desire, longing for my touch; I stop to take in every detail and jot them down precisely. I capture every element of this moment in vivid detail. Every scent, sound, color, taste and feeling of you gets bottled up in my pen and the words keep flowing out of me fluidly.

We’re not even in the same room but you can sense me next to you. Every nerve ending of your body is longing for me to caress your flesh until you’re ready for nothing else but the familiar sensation of me entering the comfortable space between your legs.

Penetrating you is the easy part, making you want me is what’s hard—among other things.

Sometimes, I give you all of me in one exhilarating dose of erotic dialogue, but other times I’ll tease you and leave you…

Wanting…

More.

How important is attention to small details to you when it comes to good erotic writing? Could you see and feel the intensity of the moment as you read the words? Do you appreciate the nuances of good foreplay? How intense are the moments right before penetration for you? Have you ever tried your hand at writing erotica? Did you ever wonder where I found the inspiration for Wet Wednesdays? Are you surprised that my muse is you? How bad did you want me to keep on going with this one?

  • Distinguished Gentlewoman

Could you see and feel the intensity of the moment as you read the words?
Yes. I'm a visual person, and have a VERY vivid imagination. The best stories to me are the ones where I can visualize and feel every nuance of the words as I read them. That also makes for GREAT erotica.
How important is attention to small details to you when it comes to good erotic writing?
Attention to detail is very important. But you have to know what details to give and when to give them. As they say, timing is everything. If I'm reading erotica, I want to visualize the atmosphere, so describing a room or an object is important. What I don't like is when the writer wastes too many words on atmosphere and then short-change me on the actual detail of the sex. But you don't seem to have that problem. You're good at giving us a balanced story. Nice.
Do you appreciate the nuances of good foreplay?
I certainly do. And I appreciate when erotica writers spend a lot of time on foreplay.
How intense are the moments right before penetration for you?
So much more intense. I always wish they can go on for hours and hours and...
BTW: This is another WINNER. I love what you did with this.

I found your website while voting for another website for the black web blog awards and I have to say....YES!!! At 32 hrs old, I finally discovered self pleasure and experienced my first orgasm ( multiples even!) after years of pleasuring the men in my life. This website is exactly what my therapist ordered ( in a roundabout way, lol) thank you so much !

  • http://thecandyshoppe.wordpress.com Ronnie6676

LOL oh and is that his bald head in that picture???

  • http://kayemichele1.wordpress.com Kaye Michele

Ok. NOW you're bugging. Who knows. (I'm sure he picked that picture intentionally, lol)

  • Kellz

  • http://www.wellbehaveddontmakehistory.blogspot.com Miss Malorie

Mmmmmm... damn being a cerebral creature and being turned on by an erotic description of how to write erotic descriptions...

Father help me! *swoons* I agree with Ms. Trecie, Anslem, you are the business! *swoons again*

  • khaybee

Ohhh...my...goodness. Its cool to read erotica about imaginary characters. But Lawd-have-mercy it is that deal when you are able to imagine the author picturing you while he types away at the keyboard. Uhmmm....I think its time for a break from work. ***clears throat***

  • bogart4017

Why do i have the feeling that this wasnt meant for us (guys)? lol!

  • Mz. Ashley

OH MY! I have to say, before this website, I have never read anything close to the way you describe sex! IT IS AWESOME! The small details are what sets it off. I could def. see and feel the intensity of this moment...Don't even know you, but GOSH DANG, it makes me want you! I believe the moments before penetration NEEDS to be intense, that way its not just sex, it is something more. Intense foreplay, just make the sex soooo much better. I would rather you not go on with this one, it leaves it up to me to do the rest in my own imagination and i like that...plus, i dont think i could of handled anymore! :)

  • Rena

That was hot! New fan right here. *hugs*

I write erotic stories and I think that detail is very important. You want to engage the reader and let them feel what the characters are feeling and envision themselves in the role as well..... Zane hits it on the spot everytime.... I think engaging the reader is very important. Keeping them wanting more is what you aim for..... check out my site http://www.eroticmindz.webs.com or visit everynighterotica.com where some of my work has been featured.... Hey, NWSO, maybe I could let you use one of my short stories for a Wet Wednesday....

  • Danielle

I think I just fell in lust with a man I have never met.

  • Caramella

This is my first time writing...love, love, love this website. Keep up the good work! I believe erotic writing is based on waking up all the five senses. You really have to place the reader there not only visually, but with sounds, smell etc. Also, anticipation is the biggest aphrodesiac, because you're imagining all the different scenarios of how it will all go down. It could be just describing the path that a bead of sweat took from your temple to the base of your neck while we are making love. The sensual way it traced its way on your soft chocolate skin and gathered in the nook of neck. The way it tasted as I nibbled on your neck...etc.

The pic you chose is from one of my favourite movies, " A Good Day to be Black and Sexy". The scene where the girl is convincing the guy to do anal...

Again...keep up the good work and making us all wet on Wednesdays. Hmmmm...

  • A.P.B. All People Bleed

I agree Caramella. Appealing to all if the senses is crucial to a good erotic story. I have tried to incorporate onomatopoeia, but have had minimal success. Scent and touch are the best senses (IMO)!!!

    Fucking love it

this is probably the funniest bunch of comments I've read haha "sweet baby Jesus tucked away in a manger".

It is definitely very attractive how you have you way with words. Reading this I could almost imagine your voice reading it to me. (if only).

Never did I ever think I could be turned on by reading about sexual fantasies.

Good Luck with the Blog Awards I am very confident in this blog.

Thanx for the "good luck" but it was all for naught, no victory this year, but I'm a winner in spirit. New readers such as yourself trump a "win."

Well, I do enjoy erotica and wrote several stories. I to take my inspiration from experiences, music, a scent, etc. I would have like for you to have continued the mental stimulation, I was "feeling" it.

  • http://sweatpantsandlipgloss.webs.com Mistyblue

I love it...my inspiration comes from experience, dreams and desire...I seem to write best when I am in a state of "need"...different things inspire different people but words can make you cum....to another level of understanding! Smile!

  • Southern Poise

Small details are very important. It makes it intimate, It takes you there... It transforms fantasy into reality in the mind of the reader. The intensity of moment pulls the reader in deeper into your mind and the mental state allows the reader to lose themselves in your thoughts to feel the passion flowing through every inch of their being.....to give the ultimate experience of making love to your brain... cause if you know what YOU are doing, and you do...YES.. good erotica will make you wet...

    tell me what you think???
